Episode 131: 44 and Not Afraid to be Perimenopausal
Apr 03, 2024As we get older we are made to feel that we should be scared of ageing! Society makes us feel like we should do everything in our power to stop the aging process and from what I’ve witnessed that also includes not talking much about what is happening within our bodies.
How do you feel about getting older?
Do you panic when each birthday comes around, examining your face and body every morning for those tell-tale signs of ageing?
Or are you, like me, simply happy to be alive and sharing these wonderful moments with those you love?
I’m going to turn 45 in just a few weeks. And I’m noticing small changes like joint pains, brain fog, skin sensitivities, and my hands are forever dry. Sometimes my energy levels and sleep can be a bit all over the place.
Then it can be more difficult to concentrate at different times of the month, I don’t want to be social and sometimes, I can’t even remember what I came into a room for!!!
In this episode, I share my perimenopause journey so far. I am opening up about my experience and trying to break the stigma surrounding this totally normal era of our lives.
This subject is certainly not taboo for me and I don’t want it to be for you. I know that I’m not getting any younger. I’m getting older and that’s a privilege especially as my mum sadly passed away at the age of 56.
