“Never forget that the magic is within you!” - Eleshia Harris
The start of every year gives us a fantastic opportunity for growth, change, and reaching our full potential.
Even if New Year’s resolutions aren’t really your thing, you’ll almost certainly be looking back and recognising just how much awesome stuff you’ve achieved over the past year (both in business and in our personal lives) and hopefully making plans to make 2022 even better!
As Anne Frank said, “What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t even happened yet.”
So whatever challenges 2021, let’s come together and welcome 2022 with a fresh set of goals, a sense of purpose and a vision for our lives without compromising our health or happiness.
Focusing on wellness is key here. Because if you don’t take care of yourself, there’s no way you can unleash your full power in your business, personal life, or personal growth.
This week, I’ll explain exactly how to do this as we move forward. I’ll be explaining the top wellness trends, tips, and lessons I’ve learned along the way and giving you a word of warning that you absolutely cannot miss! Eleshia Harris: If I am not implementing what I'm learning, what is the point? Or if I'm not sharing what I'm learning, then what is the point in me continuing just to be a learner? This is the time to really take some of the trends, some of the things that you have learned over the last 12 months, and really implement it into your business, into your lifestyle, into your home life, into your personal life. And just so it helps to move your lifestyle forward.
Hey, I'm Eleshia Harris, and I am the host of The Eleshia Show where each week, we'll be having conversations about how to enhance your wellbeing. We'll be sharing strategies and stories and insights to build your business while still navigating life because sometimes we try to separate the two. And let's face it. If you are not well, you have no business. I am a holistic business growth strategist and a wellness coach who spent over 15 years in corporate before deciding to choose me first to build my brand, Eleshia Lifestyle. I'm here to teach you how to redefine what success means to you, ditch the stress and confusion, and learn how to run your business from a place of ease and excitement. Let's get into this week's episode.
Hi, and welcome back to The Eleshia Show. It feels so good to be back. Last week, I took a break because, you know what, I deserved it and I needed it. I really just needed to take some time out and just reflect on everything that has been happening over the last couple of months. It's been amazing. However, it has been full-on. And as you can hear from my voice, I'm a little bit quirky because we're getting towards the end of the year. And I don't know if you're like me, but sometimes I end up getting a little bit more drained when it comes to the end of the year. And that's the whole reason why I did the episode that I did for you a couple of weeks ago where I told you about all of the things that I had put in place to try not to feel so drained. But life happens, and we had a little accident with regards to my daughter. She's okay. But life throws you curve balls. So for me, I'm so happy that the way I decided to run my business and my lifestyle that I had so much white space in my diary that I was able to, one, be there for my family. But all just to assess what was going on and take a step back and ensure that the things that weren't a hundred percent priority had to just wait. And you know what, I was 100% okay with that. And now, I feel so much better that I was able to do that. And now, I can fulfill the last couple of bits that I wanted to get done before the end of the year.
One of those was recording this episode for you. And we're going to get into it. And I am so excited to be here with you. If you had told me at the beginning of 2021 that I would have launched my own podcast, I would have been like, no, no way. And now, here we are, over 30 episodes. Been listened to over 40 countries, had so much lovely, lovely feedback and success with this show that I am just so, so happy that I bet on myself and here we are.
Today, I am shouting out to all of you. All of you that listen to the episode, I hope you had a wonderful holiday. And you are still resting and restoring and reflecting over the last 12 months and how you've felt about maneuvering through this last 12 to 24 months. I hope you're also thinking about what exciting things that you want to do for 2022. I've already started to map out my calendar, but we'll talk about that in another episode. But I am just excited. I am grateful that I am here. And I know I've said this over the last couple of weeks, but I just wanted to also honor those of you for who, this isn't a great time, and you're missing loved ones that are not here with us. I know that feeling. And I just want you to know that I am here for you and I see you. And so, yes, let's get into this episode. So we're going to talk about some of the trends that I have been researching and I've heard about with regards to what people are thinking about and are planning for 2022 with regards to wellbeing and self-care and lifestyle and marketing and strategies, and everything in between. And I'm just going to give you my take on things, and some of the things that I will be implemented for my lifestyle.
So let's start with my tagline with regards to investing in you. One of the things that I was reading about was the fact that online classes, online movement classes, online lifestyle classes, just general online classes are here to stay. And for me, I'm 100% okay with that. I have really, really loved learning from people globally over the last year. And so it really excites me that this is going to continue. And for me, knowing that for the first quarter of the year, it's going to be cold. And you know, we're in flu season already. So for me, I'm happy to continue to learn virtually. I enjoy my online classes with regard to my movement. So I love working out. I love working out online with other Pilates teachers three times a week. I'm enjoying doing recorded classes. And I know that for me, that is here to stay. And even with more talk about more AI and more AR technology, I know that it's going to look even more different in virtual spaces. So if you love virtual reality and so forth, and you love technology, that is going to be really exciting for you. Me personally, I find it a little bit overwhelming. I'm enjoying what I'm doing at the moment. And I love using my Apple Watch to track my movement and so forth. But I will be keeping an eye on what's going on with regards to how we're moving forward, but I don't want to be at my screen always. Although I'll be using that time for movement online, I'll be making sure that I'm also spending time away from my desk, away from my computer to spend time with family and friends, and just ensuring that I get some kind of balance. I know. I know. I want it all.
And then from a food perspective, I really, really love reading all of the information about new trends, about new diets and new vegetables that are going to be big for the year. But I don't necessarily pay much attention to it because I know what I need to do for my body. So I would really say to you, think about the things that you know that you need to do and make those small steps yourself. Try not to think about jumping on the next new fat cleanse or diet, and think about the things that may just help you with small changes. For instance, I did a well-being reset in the summer of 2020. It was really gentle. And it was more about educating people about the things that they could be doing with regards to making small tweaks in their existing lifestyle to really help to boost their immune systems, to help with their self-care, to really recognize that we need time for ourselves, people. All of us, to recognize how movement helps, and all of those things. But it wasn't about telling people, you should do this and this is really going to help you la-la-la-la-la. You have to find the things that you are going to stick to. So it's all very well listening to everybody else and what helps everybody else. But just find that happy medium. For me, I am going to be doing another wellbeing reset and you're more than welcome to join me on that journey. I'm going to be looking at reducing the amount of sugar that I intake in January because I know that I've taken in quite a lot of sugar over the last couple of months, and that's okay.
We're in that festive season, and I'm not beating myself up about it. But I also know what sugar does to me internally and externally. So, for the next couple of weeks, I'm really going to look at how I can reduce sugar. And if you haven't already, I've done an ebook of 10 ways that you can easily reduce sugar. And you can download that. And it gives you so much information that you can instantly use just to make those small tweaks to ensure that you're not taking in too much sugar. So that's what I'm going to be doing. I'm also going to be cutting down on the amount of wine I drink. And one of the reasons why I'm doing that is because I had a conversation with Pamela Windle at the beginning of December when I started to see that some of my allergies were playing up. And she made me consider that it may be some of the fermented food that I'm eating.
So, for me, I can't give up Prosecco just yet. But I am willing to give up my wine and just see how that works for my body. So that's another thing that I'll be doing. And I saw that there is a trend for 2022 that there's going to be a lot more people doing this and just looking at having more mocktails and not taking in too much alcohol. And that's a good thing for everybody, really, isn't it? With regards to just ensuring that we are doing the best for our overall health.
For home life, I don't know about you but January's always a good time for decluttering. For me, and I think it was 2018, I want to say when I first heard about Marie Kondo. And then in 2019, I was obsessed with her Netflix episodes. And I really, really got into it, especially as I had had my daughter by then, and we had so many things in the house. So decluttering is so, so important, especially for your mind. When you are working in a cluttered space, then it's really hard to concentrate. I know I find from my perspective, if I don't have a clear desk or a clear space, I can't think. If you've been listening to me for a while, or you're part of my community, you know that I have been decluttering for years. This is because when my mom passed away, I didn't want to get rid of any of her things. And so, over the years, slowly but surely, I have been decluttering things that are broken or just don't spark me joy. Yes, that's a very Marie Kondo thing to say. But they just don't spark me joy anymore. So, I've been taking my time and getting rid of them. And it has really, really helped from a mindset perspective because, for me, I can hold her memories in my mind, in my heart, with photographs, but it's not serving me having all of her things around me. I have a few of her items that I absolutely love that will stay with me until the end of the day, but I don't need everything.
So, that's one of the things that's been really important to me. And I will continue to declutter throughout 2022. I really want to live a minimalist life. And I can't see that happening too, too soon because I'm also a little bit of a hoarder as I've just said to you. But that is the dream, that is the goal. So I'm going to keep on pushing for that goal. I also just want to remind you to look at your cleaning products and what you're putting on your skin. And remember, we've talked about this a lot over the previous episodes. So for me, this is not really a trend. When I was researching and this came up, I was like, this is a lifestyle thing. This is a lifestyle change. Think about your hormones, think about your general health, think about your families, your pets, think about the toxins that are living in your house that you are able to reduce by just making these small changes. Next time you're doing your cleaning, look at the back of the label. Look at all of the products, and think about what that is doing for your environment. And then there are so many easy switches that can be made. And I'm going to do a whole podcast actually about the things that I have done in my house, and just talking about how I make my products or so forth.
I love, love, love that people are talking more openly now about how things are affecting them from a mental health perspective, their general wellbeing, their perimenopause and menopause journeys, some of the diseases they've come up against. And I am really, really happy that this is becoming more of worldwide conversation because we definitely, definitely need to be hearing this and not be suffering in silence. For me, this is one of the reasons why I put together this podcast is so we can make some of these conversations and less taboo. And so for next year, I will definitely be bringing in more experts to be talking about other aspects that will help us all as business owners, because this shit is important. We are here to thrive, and we are here to ensure that we can live to our best ability. And if there were things that are going on in our lives and our lifestyles that we are afraid to talk about, that is stifling our energy to be able to give our best to this life. So, yes, this is so important to me so I'll be doing more in the new year to have more of these amazing conversations that we have been having.
So let's talk about some of the business trends that I researched. And like I said, at the beginning of this conversation, online working is not going anywhere. So working from home is going to still be a thing that happens in 2022. I hear from some of my friends that still work in Corporate that they are doing hybrids so they do a couple of days in the office and then a couple of days at home, and that's been working really well for them. Video marketing is going to be really big for 2022. So if you're not doing video marketing, then I suggest that you start doing that. If you are an Instagram fan, you see this already. You see that the majority of people are really honing their real skills. Now, I don't know no if I am an all-singing or all-dancing pointing kind of person. but it seems to work for some people. And you'll be seeing more of that with more AR filters and so forth. And the more things that people are going to be really interacting with. So, from my perspective, remember your audience, I'm trying to keep your message short. Remember how you like to digest the information that you see and then think about what you can do for your audience, and make it work for you. You don't have to follow any of these trends, especially sometimes it can feel like people are ramming in the things that they want you to do down your throats. And especially when it's like, yes, you've got to do this. You've got to do that to grow your business, I always suggest to my clients that I'm working with that what you are going to continue to do is what you are comfortable with doing. So, like I just said, if you're not comfortable with miming and pointing into the screen and dancing for real videos, you're not going to do it. You're going to find a real resistance in doing those kinds of posts. So then they just don't happen. So find a way that makes it easy for you. All of these things that people are saying to do are suggestions. However, they are suggestions that have worked for them. If this is something that you are resistant to do, it's not going to work for you.
So really think about that before you go and invest in another Instagram growth course. Or you're looking at what one of your payers are doing and why their businesses are booming but you know that's not how you want to grow your business. Think about some of those aspects because like I said, it's not going to work for everybody. So just take what you need and make it apply to how you want to work for the rest of the year. You don't want to be resentful about what you're having to do to build your business, your brand, or how you want to live your life. Yes, there are things about running a business that you are not necessarily going to like. But don't make that your overall thing because you're not going to enjoy it. And then you're not going to build a sustainable business that you enjoy running.
Lastly, I want to say, it's time to implement. So everything that you have been reading, everything that you've been listening to, everything that you've been following, it's all very well that you are taking in all of this information. But now, it's time to implement. And what do I mean by this? I love, love, love, love, love to learn. I love to take a course. I love to learn. However, if I am not implementing what I'm learning, what is the point? Or if I'm not sharing what I'm learning, then what is the point in me continuing just to be a learner? This is the time to really take some of the trends, some of the things that you have learned over the last 12 months, and really implement it into your business, into your lifestyle, into your home life, into your personal life, and just so it helps to move your lifestyle forward.
Yes, that should really excite you because you've done a lot of learning even just listening to these episodes. You've learned. So go back and, maybe, listen to some of the ones that really interested you and start to think about, yes, these are some of the things that I can implement really easily into my lifestyle that are going to make a difference for me. As I've done previously, I invite you that if you are a business owner that really wants to move your business forward, then I'm inviting you to be a part of the Winter Business Growth Implementation Academy. We are going to spend the first 10 weeks of the new year planning and then implementing everything that you have mapped out in your growth plan for the new year to really, really make sure that you set amazing foundations for the rest of the year to ensure that you go and you smash all of those goals, all of those personal and business goals that maybe you've had on your list for a very, very, very, very long time.
I'm here to help you implement them. So go to my website, eleshialifestyle.com to find out all of the information about the Winter Business Growth Implementation Academy. I will also link the information in the show notes. And I just want to say to you, well done. Absolutely well done for really investing in yourself this year. So a huge, huge shout out to Anne and her team, Charlotte, and my amazing husband, Darren, and everybody else who has really been a huge, huge part of really helping me with regards to bringing in this podcast to you weekly. The magic is within you. Remember that. And if you need a reminder of how to harness that magic within you, go back to the episodes that Michelle Rohr and I did titled, The Magic is You.
