Episode 42 - It’s Time to Stop and Reflect - Start Planning Your Business and Wellbeing
Feb 02, 2022
Do you ever stop and reflect on everything you’ve achieved?
Or use what you’ve learned to develop a strategic plan that can take your efforts to a whole new level?
If you’re anything like most people, this doesn’t happen very often, except perhaps at New Year or Christmas.
But if you’ve been a female entrepreneur for a while or in the business world, you’ll know that you should do monthly reviews if you want to keep moving forward towards your dreams and achieve your goals.
As I’ve discovered in my own life and business, it also helps to ensure that you stay happy, healthy and connected to your family.
By becoming ultra-strategic in this way, you can stay focused and ensure you’re investing time, energy and money into the stuff that really counts. You remember your ‘why’, stay creative, keep on top of your multiple obligations and can actually enjoy your time.
If you’ve been listening to the podcast for a while, you’ll know that I’m the Queen of Planning (it’s my secret weapon!) and I’ve witnessed how powerful this can be.
That’s why I’ve decided to make this episode the first in a monthly series to make sure you’re not forgetting to use this productivity-hacking trick. Don’t miss it!

Eleshia Harris: I want you to think about the things that you want to get done for the next couple of days, weeks and months and years. And come from it from a place of just writing everything down, everything that you desire and not always thinking about how you're going to get to the end result. Write down what you want first. And then the plan will come.
Hey, I'm Eleshia Harris, and I am the host of The Eleshia Show where each week, we'll be having conversations about how to enhance your wellbeing. We'll be sharing strategies and stories and insights to build your business while still navigating life because sometimes we try to separate the two. And let's face it. If you are not well, you have no business. I am a holistic business growth strategist and a wellness coach who spent over 15 years in corporate before deciding to choose me first to build my brand, Eleshia Lifestyle. I'm here to teach you how to redefine what success means to you, ditch the stress and confusion, and learn how to run your business from a place of ease and excitement. Let's get into this week's episode.
Hello, and welcome back to The Eleshia Show. I have decided that at the beginning of each month, I am going to do a quick podcast episode where I just talk about all of the things that we can be doing to ensure that we are looking after ourselves, making sure that we are putting our wellbeing first, and just reflecting on the last month.
So for this month, I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. The last month, basically, the last two years have been hard on us all. So I'm hearing the same things when I'm having separate conversations with clients and friends and family. And people are all feeling exhausted and overwhelmed and just a little bit frazzled with everything that has happened. But also, just not knowing where to focus and how to move the lifestyles and their businesses, and just maybe their wellbeing forward.
I just wanted to be here just as your virtual cheerleader to say, I'm here. You are not alone. And just to give you a couple of insights to think about as you go into this next month. If you are in the middle of the month, this might be a good thing for you just to have in your back pocket, just as a reset for a couple of weeks ahead or for you to think about the couple of weeks that you had previously. So before I really get into the episode, I want to shout out Singapore. I've been there a couple of times. I'm so excited that I have listeners out there. And I cannot wait to be able to visit again. And the time that I'm recording this is around Chinese New Year, and there's also known as the Lunar New Year. And so I'm really, really excited to know that I have Singaporeans listening to my episode. But also, I want to wish you a very happy new year. It is the year of the tiger. And so, it's that time where we can really, really think about the things that we want to progress in the new year.
If you made new year resolutions in January and you're thinking, oh, I still haven't got to them, think about this as another chance to really just sit back and think about your goals and your desires and everything that you want to achieve. But come to that thought from a place of what do I want? Because ultimately, you have to come first. You know I always go on about investing in yourself first. So think about what you want. How do you want to feel? And when it comes to your wellbeing, how do you want to feel when it comes to your family relationships and your friend relationships? How do you want to feel as the CEO in your business? Think about all of those things. I went to a really, really amazing planning session a couple of weeks back. And it just really opened up my eyes and gave me some other things to think about.
And so I'm coming from a place of what do I want first and foremost. It's almost like I'm here continuing to claim my power, which is an amazing feeling. I don't know if I've mentioned it. I have spent the whole of January meeting up weekly with a group of amazing ladies to really dive into how we're going to write an amazing book. So we are collaborating to write a chapter in a book altogether. So we have been meeting on a weekly basis just to get into that flow of writing. And it's been really amazing. It's been really expansive for me. It's really made me think about how I want 2022 to look.
So I want you to do the same. I want you to take some time out to dream. I want you to think about the things that you want to get done for the next couple of days, weeks and months and years. And come from it from a place of just writing everything down, everything that you desire and not always thinking about how you're going to get to the end result. Write down what you want first. And then the plan will come.
I've really taken the time to reflect on how the previous month went. And one of the things that I've really decided is that, at the beginning of each year, I am not going to be doing any form of launches. I am going to make sure that I continue to look after myself and look after my family. And spend time connecting and reconnecting with friends. And just really making sure that they're okay as well. So from 2023, it's really funny saying that out loud, but from 2023, January is going to be all about flow. It has been an interesting month. I mentioned it in one of the episodes previously where I talked about the seasonal affective disorder and how I hate to wake up in the dark. There's been a couple of dark days where I've not felt like just getting up. I've just wanted to pull the duvet over my head and just rest and restore. And next year, I'm going to build some time in to do that. I have been fortunate enough that I've been able to take some time out to look after myself in January. But going forward, I'm going to make sure that this is my number one priority to build that into any plans that I may have for January 2023.
And so as I've mentioned, use the lunar year as time to just really, really reflect. Think about the things that you want to take into the next month, thinking about the things that you were leaving behind. Think about how you want this month to go. But also, go back and listen to some of the episodes that may be able to help with planning, with habit stacking, with reducing toxic load. All of the episodes that I've done over the last month may be really, really beneficial for you just to use as a starting point to really go forward with your wellbeing journey for the rest of 2022.
So for me, I am going to go back to trying to reduce my sugar load. I mentioned it previously in one of the episodes that I recorded for January. It didn't happen as much as I wanted it to do so I'm going to do a reset. And I have linked in all of the information in the show notes if you want to come on that journey with me. But I am just doing everything from a place of what does Eleshia need? So I'm not putting any pressure on myself. And I don't want you too either. We have lived in a reactive time and now is the time just to really consider how you want to go forward. So this month, I really want you to consider the great ways that you can look after yourself. There are so many things that we are unable to control at the moment. But there are so many things that we can control. So go back and listen to the episodes that I recorded for you. That was the very first thing that really helped me when it came to getting a little bit more clarity of what I needed in my life. You don't really recognize how many toxins are really lurking around. So when I started to dive a little bit more deeper into what was really going on in my life, that really helped to be the catalyst of everything else. And so, that's one of the reasons why I always, always talk about investing in yourself first. Because once I started to invest in myself, I started to get a lot more clarity and confidence then move other aspects of my business and my life forward.
So I really hope that this short episode has served you, and just been a reminder of some of the things that could really help you with regards to your wellbeing. Like always, I'm always going to encourage you to move as well and hydrate. So make sure that you do those two. I've literally just bought myself a two and a half liter bottle because another thing that I realized in January was that I wasn't drinking enough. And then brain fog happens. And I don't really want that, especially when it comes to recording these episodes for you. So my mantra for February is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. But also, I am going to be looking at the things that I've just discussed with you and making sure that those are non-negotiables this month.
Anyway, take care. And I can't wait to speak to you again next week. Bye bye for now.
I really hope you enjoyed this episode of The Eleshia Show. If you loved this episode as much as I did, head over and rate and subscribe so you'll never miss an episode.
